Privacy policy
Credit Card Matches (the website at creditcardmatches.com and its newsletter) is published by Instar, Inc., 67 West Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222 ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
What we collect
- When you sign up: your email address, your first name if you give it, the exact wording you agreed to, the date and time, the page you signed up on, your IP address and your browser type. We keep this so we can show you agreed to hear from us.
- When you read our emails: our email delivery providers record whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked.
- When you click an offer: the advertising network records the click with a code that identifies our publication and the email or page it came from. We don't send your email address to the advertiser.
- When you visit the site: our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs, including IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We don't use advertising cookies on this site.
- When you make a privacy request: your email address and what you asked for.
We don't ask for or collect Social Security numbers, account numbers, payment card details or anything from your credit file.
How we use it
- To send you the newsletter, including offers from our partners and occasional emails from other Instar, Inc. publications, as you agreed when you signed up.
- To see which emails and articles readers open and click, so we can make them more useful.
- To keep anyone who has unsubscribed off our lists.
- To prevent fraud and abuse of our forms.
- To meet our legal obligations and answer your requests.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that run things for us under contract: website hosting, email delivery, and suppression list services that keep people who opted out from being emailed again.
- Other Instar, Inc. publications, so they can email you as described above. You can unsubscribe from each one.
- When the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our readers or others.
- If our business changes hands, the new owner would take over this policy.
We don't sell your personal information for money, and we don't give your email address to advertisers for their own marketing.
Your choices
- Stop our emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email or our unsubscribe page.
- Don't sell or share: use our Do Not Sell or Share page. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as that request.
- See or delete your information: use the same page, or email us.
Your state privacy rights
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia or another state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what we collect, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and of targeted advertising. To use these rights, go to our request page or email us. You can use an authorized agent. We'll confirm your identity before we act, answer within 45 days, and won't treat you differently for using your rights. If we turn down a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.
For California residents, in the last 12 months we collected identifiers (name, email address, IP address) and internet activity (pages viewed, email opens and clicks), from you, your device and our service providers, for the purposes listed above. We disclosed them to service providers and other Instar, Inc. publications. We haven't sold personal information or knowingly collected it from anyone under 16.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up details while you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we don't email you again. We keep consent records for as long as we need to show you agreed, and no longer than five years after you unsubscribe.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect what we hold. No system is perfectly secure.
Children
Our site and newsletter are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
